Barbara Whiting, International First-Vice President

We have two great speakers for the Convention.  Barbara Whiting, our International Guest and DKG’s First Vice President, and Mike McIlwee, OEA’s Teaching and Learning Specialist

Barbara Has served as her chapter president and state president in the past.  Barbara is from Plymouth, Minnesota and very active also in her community.  She received her bachelors in Elementary Education from Gustavus Adolphus, St. Peter, Minnesota and her Masters in Special Education from St. Cloud State University, St. Cloud, Minnesota.  She received her Specialist School Administration from University of Minnesota, St. Paul, Minnesota and her Certifications in Learning Disabilities, Emotional/Behavioral Disabilities, Supervision of Special Education also.

Besides serving as the International First Vice President, she was on the steering committee for 2004 Int’l Convention in Minnespolis and published an article in DKG Bulletin on Making Dynamic Presentations in the DKG Bulletin.  She has served aas the International Representative traveling to Mexico, Germany, Michigan, Delaware, New Brunswick, Wisconsin, Wyoming, South Dakota, New Mexico and many others.  She has traveled throughout 47 states and five continents.

Mike had a successful career teaching middle school science and math at Chisholm Schools for 33 years. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Phillips University, followed by a Masters of Education from Northwestern Oklahoma State University. Mike left the classroom to pursue a career with the Oklahoma Education Association where he has been a Teaching & Learning Specialist for the past nine years. Married to the love of his life, Linda, for 36 years they have three grown children.

Mike will be speaking to us and presenting the National Geographic photographer, Dewitt Jones’ film “For the Love of It!”  An inspirational film that helps us celebrate and invigorate our lives by actively recognizing why we love what we do!
