With assistance from an International Scholarship from Delta Kappa Gamma Society International and an Oklahoma State Scholarship from Gamma State, Elayne Weger Bowman earned her degree and graduated with a Doctor of Philosophy in Instructional Leadership and Academic Curriculum, with emphasis in mathematics, May 2017 at The University of Oklahoma.

She successfully defended her dissertation Effecting Change on the Mathematics Teaching Efficacy of Preservice Elementary Teachers on April 12, 2017, before her committee of five, past students, friends, and family.

Her passion is mentoring young teachers. Elayne has been an active member of DKG in her home chapter Beta Nu in Mustang, Oklahoma since 2001. Elayne learned about DKG through her mother, Billye Mae Sayers, who has been an active member for 40 years.

Elayne retired from teaching public secondary school mathematics after 28 years in the classroom and currently teaches in the School of Education at Oklahoma Christian University, where she has the opportunity to continue to teach and mentor young preservice teachers.
