President Kathy Davis

Kathy, Beta Beta Chapter, is currently the Professional Development Coordinator and  Instructional Trainer for Yukon Public Schools.  She is a thirty-one year veteran teacher of Language Arts and Social Studies.  She received her Bachelors and Masters from the University of Central Oklahoma.

Kathy believes in taking advantage of opportunities to develop her leadership skills.  As a Yukon Educator, she was a member and held leadership positions in many organizations: NEA, OEA, Yukon Professional Educators Association, Yukon Reading Council, Oklahoma Reading Council and International Reading Council.  She participates in conferences, conventions through her committee work and as a workshop presenter.  The Society has also provided many leadership experiences.  She attended the 2005 and 2009 Gamma State Leadership Management Seminars.  In 2008, she was selected to attend the Golden Gift Leadership Management Seminar in Austin, Texas.  Her attendance at state meetings, SW Regional Conferences, and International Conventions has continued to build on those leadership skills as a presenter of numerous workshops at each level, as well as, the attendance at pre-conference seminars: The Leader Within.

Kathy has also been recognized for personal and professional contributions to the Society and Education.  In 1998, Kathy was selected Yukon Schools District Teacher of the Year and went on to be named one of the 1999 Oklahoma State Finalist for State Teacher of the Year.  She later received the 1999 Masonic Teacher of Today Award.   She was award the 2006 Outstanding Regular Education Teacher of Oklahoma for her work with Special Education.  Kathy has also been recognized numerous times by her students and colleagues through Who's Who Among American Teachers.  In 2007, Kathy was recognized for her dedication and service to the Society with the Gamma State Achievement Award.

As the 2011 - 2013 Gamma State President, Kathy will visit the state chapters and keep them informed of important state, regional and International business.  As president, she will be an ex-official member of every state committee except the Nominations Committee.  As president, she will also be an active member of the Finance Committee for Gamma State and serve on the International Executive Board.
