Happy New Year 2015 Oklahoma DKG Chapter Presidents!!!!!!!

Thank you for all you do.  J     Can you believe we are almost half way through this school year!!??!! (and the last year of my biennium, which has FLOWN by!!!!)  It is an honor, and a wonderful way to give back to Delta Kappa Gamma, to serve at the State Level.  Please think about serving on a state committee, chairing a committee, or becoming a state officer in the future.

Also please ask your members if they would like to present a workshop on any subject at our State Convention in June.  There is a form on our website for submission.  I believe they are needed by April 1st, but please check; I may be wrong.

Most important:  The Chapter Presidents report form (Form 54) from International must be completed before the Feb 1st  deadline.   Please send it to me.  I will compile the information and send it on to International in my State President’s report.  The form can be found at and downloaded, and then emailed to me at

The annual necrology report (Form 6) from your chapter should also be completed, even if you have had no deaths.  Send it before  Feb. 1st, to our State Membership Chairman, Judy Barnes, who is also our State Second Vice President.

The Nominations Committee, chaired by Suzanne Ritter has compiled a slate of qualified members to serve as State Officers 2015-2017, which will be voted on at State Convention.  You may be contacted to serve on a state committee.  Please say yes.  If you have not yet worked on a state committee, you will find it is a fulfilling service.

2015 State  Leadership Management Seminar.
It will be held the first weekend in October  2015…  Oct 2-4  at the Catholic Pastoral Center,  7501 Northwest Expressway, between Rockwell and  Council.  Please announce this at meetings and put it on your calendar.  Encourage members to  register.  Use your DKG sock at every meeting, to collect funds and “Sock It Away” for a chapter  member(s) to attend.  The $100 fee covers all the costs for the room, food, speakers, and materials.

Amendments can be made by individuals or by chapters to our State ByLaws and Standing Rules at our   Gamma State Convention, which will be held Thursday, June 11, 12, & 13.  (Find the amendment form     on our gamma state website.)  Talk about it at your chapter meetings and submit any to Linda Gunsaulis, the ByLaws Chairman, as soon as possible.  They  have to be     published in the Spring Limelighter for all the members to read before convention.

I have not received the Hold Harmless form from seven chapters.  It needs to be downloaded, copied, signed by the chapter president and chapter secretary, and sent to me by snail-mail.    [Pam Harding, 29431 Prairie Bell Road, Bokoshe, OK 74930]

I still need forms from the following chapters:  Gamma, Epsilon, Omega, Beta Gamma, Beta Iota, Beta Mu, and Gamma Gamma.  (as of 12/24/14)  Please, please, please get it to me asap.  I have sent the bulk of all of Oklahoma’s forms to International Headquarters.  And will continue to send in the last ones as they come to me.  I will be sending by snail-mail, a copy of the verification letter which was sent to me.   I still need our State Secretary’s signature on it before I make copies to send to you, but it will be coming in January.

Our 2015 State Convention will be held on June 11, 12, 13.  Put it on your calendars and remind your members.  We will again be at the Embassy Hotel and Suites on Meridian Street in Oklahoma City.

State Convention will start on Thursday, June 11 (beginning about 2 pm), all day Friday, June 12 (with a formal evening banquet), and Saturday morning, June 13, with the Ceremony of Life, before we travel home.  Saturday morning, our incoming and outgoing state leadership teams will have time to meet to exchange materials and information after the Ceremony of Life.

All Chapter Treasurers should have submitted membership dues to the State Treasurer, Diane Laase  Please check to make sure this has been done.

Please email (or snail-mail) a copy of your Chapter Yearbook (Programs/Directory, whatever you call them) to me [and give your chapter 10 points under Section D:  Chapter Communication, Chapter Yearbook, on the Chapter Red/Gold Excellence Award form].

When you publish your chapter newsletter (your chapter communication page), please add Arneeta Gordon and me to your emailing list.  Your newsletters should be sent to the Communications Chairman Arneeta Gordon   &  also sent to me  as part of the submissions necessary for a Chapter Newsletter Award and the Red/Gold Chapter Excellence Award (section D), given at the State Convention 2015.

Publish in your local newspaper.   Write an article about a program you have enjoyed with your chapter.  Take pictures and have them also sent with the article.  (At the end of the year, you will have a worthy program to send to Ann Ritchie, State 1st VP EEC Chairman, for Annie Award recognition.

The form will be on-line at our website.)   And remember to record points for the Red/Gold Award for Chapter Excellence!  :-)
